Amsterdam Marathon – 21 October 2007
Those of you who know me will be aware that running is one of my hobbies, helping to make up for “driving a desk” all day and busting the stresses of professional life! I have always got a lot out of my running but once a year I like to use it as a way of giving something back.
This year to date I have run many races, 5k’s, 10k’s, half-marathon, Delamere Forest Hell Run (exactly what it says in the title) and raced 15 miles though the Welsh mountains trying (but failing) to catch the Tallylyn railway train!
However, on the 21 October I am facing my toughest challenge yet as I take on my first ever full marathon in Amsterdam (yes, I know its flat but its still 26.22 miles!)
So, why am I doing all this? I always said I would never run a marathon because its just too far. However, the thought of using the event to try to raise some much needed funds for our favourite charity, The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), is the driving force behind everything that I am doing. I had the privilege of visiting the farm last year and seeing the work that they do, particularly with terminally ill children in giving them a last holiday and respite for their carers. They really do a fantastic job but it costs a substantial amount each year to run the farm and that’s where we come in.
I would therefore urge you to sponsor me and help raise much needed funds for CAFT. They will put it to really good use.
If you would like to sponsor me please complete the form below and we will ensure a sponsor form is sent to you.
Thanks very much in anticipation of your support, I will send a full report on the run on my return!
